Author Guidelines
A. General Provisions
- The submission is an original work, free from plagiarism, and less than 25% checked by an Internet-based plagiarism detection service.
- The submission has not been published or accepted for publication in other journals.
- The submission is typed in 1 space using quarto paper (A4), Times New Roman font size 12, 2 cm margins on the right and left, and 2.5 cm margins on the top and bottom.
- The submission is typed with a two-column layout.
- The submission is written in Indonesia or English according to the general guidelines.
- The submission must be approved by all co-authors and relevant authorities (e.g., institution or sponsor).
- Please download the template to make sure your article matches our guidelines.
- The article, including references (excluding the tables, figures, and appendix), must not exceed 4,500 words.
- The file size should not exceed 5 MB (.docx).
B. Systematic Writing of Original Article
Title
- The title must be straightforward and informative, also specific and effective.
- The author's name (without an academic degree) is accompanied by affiliation, and must include name, department, faculty, institution, city, and country.
- The corresponding author's details are on the page's footer, including name without salutation or academic degree, department, faculty, institution, address (street name, city, ZIP Code, and country), and email.
Abstract
- The abstract is written in Indonesia or English.
- The abstract consists of 150–300 words that explain the objectives, brief methods, and significant findings, and there should not be any references.
- Keywords are written in English, 3–5 keywords or phrases, arranged alphabetically, and separated using semicolons (;) for the author template.
- Please do not use too general, wordy, and lengthy terminology.
- Kindly prevent words that are already used in the title.
Introduction
- Background of study. To strengthen the background of the study or activity, authors are required to add empirical backgrounds and conceptual frameworks/backgrounds constructed from reviews of relevant previous studies published no later than 5 years ago.
- Provide a short review of the pertinent literature, state the originality of the research, and state the research objectives.
- Covers the factual and actual problems, challenges, or requirements the community needs related to the research purposes.
- Authors are required to justify the forms of community participation and interaction in the community engagement program and activities.
Methods
- Describe the method used to solve problems or challenges, or answer the research objectives.
- Data collection techniques (including sample selection techniques, validity, and reliability of data collection tools).
- Data analysis technique.
- Location, time, and duration of activities.
- Authors must justify the condition/situation before the programs/activities are implemented and the expected result.
Result and Discussion
- Relevant documentation with a focus on community empowerment activities.
- For photos/images: the minimum resolution is 300 dpi with JPEG extensions (.jpg). Use image processing software to check the DPI.
- Results must be presented correctly and accompanied by an explanation without reference to the literature. Original and important findings must be stated. Results must be illustrated with numbers or tables if necessary, but must be kept to a minimum. Detailed discussion, speculation, and interpretation of data are not included in the results, but in the discussion section.
- Authors must emphasize the analysis of the condition before and after the programs/activities of community engagement are implemented.
- The discussion must interpret the findings expressed in the results obtained against the background of existing knowledge. It must highlight a new perspective. Each assumption must be clearly stated.
- The analysis should be completed with a further discussion of the community's participation and the impacts that the community gains. It would be good to have additional content if the authors included the community's adoption of innovation.
- All tables, figures, photos, and graphs included in this manuscript must be cited and integrated with analysis and/or their justification/significance with the programs/activities of the community engagement. All tables, figures, photos, and graphs should be relevant to the study.
Conclusion
- Provide conclusions of the discussion.
- Mention the impact and benefits of community empowerment activities.
- Provide advice for further community empowerment.
- Produce new findings of theories, postulates, formulas, principles, methods, models, or prototypes supported by research data.
Acknowledgment
- The acknowledgement list consists of people who assisted community empowerment activities.
- A Declaration of Conflict of Interest must be written when you (or your company or sponsor) have a financial, commercial, legal, or professional relationship with another organization or people who work with them and contribute to your research.
- If funding was given through grants from universities, colleges, or other research institutions, state the name of the institution or organization that provided the funds.
- If there are no funders from a university, college, or other research institution, please include the following sentence: This study did not receive specific grants from funding agencies in the public sector, commercial, or non-profit sectors.
References
- References are based on the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition format.
- References are listed alphabetically.
- References only list literature that you have quoted in the text.
- Check details of references to actual sources. The author is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the references.
- Where available, URLS for the references have been provided.
- Avoid using more than 40 and fewer than 10 references. We highly recommend using 70% journal references and 30% book references. Journal references should have been published in the past five years.
- Authors are strongly urged to build their bibliographies using a reference manager such as Zotero, EndNote, RefWorks, Reference Manager, or Mendeley.
C. Ethical Code and Regulation
- Authors must ensure that all community engagement activities/programs written in this manuscript are free from any matter related to/relevant to ethical code and regulation.
- Authors must also obtain consent from the participating communities to include/present any figures, photos, data, or other information supporting the community engagement programs/activities in the manuscript.
- After receiving an acceptance letter, the corresponding author must sign and submit an Ethical Clearance Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief according to the template provided in the OJS.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

- I hereby stated that this manuscript have never been previously published in any other scientific publication and not being under reviewing process of any other scientific publication.
- The file sent must be in the Open Document format in the .doc format, .docx is not permitted to use the PDF format or other protected formats.
- Use the writing template provided in the web.
- The length of the manuscript is considered between 5 - 10 pages typed in 1 spaces with 12 font sizes and A4 paper.
- Abstracts are made in two languages (Indonesian and English).
- All texts include complete personal data that is valid and accountable.
