Model Edukasi Program Aktivitas Fisik Berbasis Masyarakat dalam Menurunkan Glukosa Darah
Abstract
Perilaku menetap merupakan faktor risiko terbesar terjadinya Diabetes Mellitus (DM) atau komplikasinya. Salah satu penyebab perilaku menetap adalah kurangnya pengetahuan tantang pentingnya aktivitas fisik dalam mengendalikan glukosa darah untuk mencegah terjadinya DM. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengenalkan pentingnya aktivitas fisik menggunakan model edukasi berbasis pemberdayaan masyarakat untuk mengendalikan glukosa darah, terutama pada pasien DM. Jumlah peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan ini sebanyak 50 peserta, yang terdiri dari 29 masyarakat tidak terdiagnosis DM dan 21 masyarakat terdiagnosis DM. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa metode edukasia yang dilanjutkan dengan praktik aktivitas fisik dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya aktivitas fisik dalam menurunkan glukosa darah. Edukasi kesehatan dilakukan pada masyarakat yang menderita DM maupun masyarakat umum. Setelah edukasi kesehatan, dilanjutkan dengan diskusi kelompok dan latihan bersama. Simpulan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah model edukasi program aktivitas fisik berbasis masyarakat dalam bentuk diskusi kelompok dan praktik langsung aktivitas fisik dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya mengendalikan glukosa darah. Saran, pemerintah dan institusi pendidikan perlu meningkatkan upaya preventif dan promotif untuk meningkatkan perilaku aktivitas fisik dalam upaya mengendalikan DM di wilayah kabupaten Sleman lainnya.
