1. Introduction

Jurnal Informatika UPGRIS (JIU) is firmly committed to the principle of Open Access for scholarly research. We believe that making research freely and widely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge, accelerates discovery, enhances education, and maximizes the societal and economic impact of research. This policy outlines JIU's commitment to providing unrestricted access to the articles it publishes, in line with the mission of our publisher, Program Studi Informatika UPGRIS.

2. Definition of Open Access

JIU adheres to the principles of Open Access, meaning that all published articles are made permanently and freely available online immediately upon publication, without subscription charges or registration barriers for readers. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful, non-commercial purpose, as defined by the specific Creative Commons license applied, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

3. Policy Details

  • Free and Immediate Access: All research articles, technical papers, conceptual papers, and case study reports published in JIU are immediately available to access and download free of charge for all users worldwide upon publication. There is no embargo period.

  • Author Copyright and Licensing:

    • Authors who publish with JIU retain the copyright of their work.
    • All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. This license allows others to:
      • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
      • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.
    • Under the following terms:
      • Attribution (BY): Users must give appropriate credit to the author(s) and JOSI as the original source of publication, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.
      • ShareAlike (SA): If users remix, transform, or build upon the material, they must distribute their contributions under the same license as the original.
    • The specific licensing terms are clearly indicated on each published article.

  • Copyright Policy Authors publishing with Jurnal Informatika UPGRIS (JIU) agree to the following terms:

    1. Copyright Retention: Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

    2. Non-Exclusive Distribution: Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in Jurnal Informatika UPGRIS (JIU)

      Benefits of Open Access:

    • For Authors: Increased visibility, readership, and citation of their work; wider global impact; greater public engagement; and compliance with open access mandates from many funding agencies.
    • For the Research Community and Society: Accelerated pace of research and innovation; equitable access to knowledge regardless of geographic location or institutional affiliation; enhanced opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration; and greater return on public investment in research.

  • Compliance with Funder Mandates:

    • JIU is Open Access model, author copyright retention, and CC BY-SA 4.0 licensing are designed to be compatible with the open access policies of many research funding bodies and institutions worldwide. Authors are encouraged to check their specific funder requirements.

  • Archiving for Long-Term Accessibility:

    • JIU utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

We are proud to be an open-access journal that supports its authors and readers through a fee-free publication model, sustained by Universitas PGRI Semarang. JIU's adherence to these principles is reflected in its DOAJ Seal status, indicating a high level of openness and commitment to best practices in scholarly publishing.
