Abstract

This study examines the Nyadran tradition at the ancestral gravesite in Dukuh Kalikangkung, Nglebak Village, Kradenan Subdistrict, Blora Regency. The Nyadran tradition is a form of Javanese cultural heritage that is still preserved by the community as a sign of respect for their ancestors and an expression of gratitude to God. This study aims to describe the origin of the name Dukuh Kalikangkung, the procession of the Nyadran tradition, and the offerings used. This study employs a qualitative method using data collection techniques such as interviews, documentation, and non-participant observation. The results of this study indicate that the Nyadran tradition in Dukuh Kalikangkung is still routinely held on Tuesday Kliwon during the big month or the month of Sapar. The series of activities includes weweh, offering prayers at the ancestral graves, a gathering at the village head’s house, and a performance of the Gambyong dance. The Gambyong dance performance at the village head’s residence used to take place from Wednesday morning through the afternoon and evening; however, with the passage of time, it has been condensed to Tuesday Kliwon or Wednesday night. The offerings used, such as roasted chicken, flower arrangements, fresh pandan leaves, and rice wrapped in banana leaves, symbolize gratitude, respect, harmony, and the spiritual values of the community. Meanwhile, the offerings during the weweh ceremony include jadah, jenang, rengginang, gedhang, and krupuk gareng. This tradition has endured because it is regarded as a cultural identity and serves to strengthen social bonds within the Nglebak village community.
