Strategi Reduksi Beban Kognitif Siswa melalui Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Inovatif Berbasis Cognitive Load Theory

Abstract


Guru SMP Negeri 1 Pecalungan masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam merancang media pembelajaran yang memperhatikan prinsip Cognitive Load Theory (CLT). Media yang digunakan sering memuat informasi berlebihan, tampilan visual yang kompleks, dan penyajian materi yang kurang terstruktur sehingga meningkatkan extraneous cognitive load dan menghambat pemahaman siswa, terutama pada materi yang bersifat abstrak dan prosedural. Padahal, pembelajaran abad ke-21 menuntut guru mampu mengembangkan media yang efektif, efisien, dan berbasis kajian ilmiah. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam merancang media pembelajaran berbasis CLT melalui pendampingan sistematis. Kegiatan meliputi workshop penguatan konsep CLT, pelatihan identifikasi intrinsic, extraneous, dan germane cognitive load, praktik perancangan serta revisi media pembelajaran, dan pendampingan implementasi media di kelas disertai refleksi hasil. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi guru dalam merancang media berbasis CLT. Guru juga berhasil menghasilkan media pembelajaran inovatif yang menerapkan prinsip-prinsip CLT serta menyusun panduan praktis pengembangan media yang dapat digunakan secara berkelanjutan. Program ini berhasil memperkuat kapasitas guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang lebih efektif dan ramah terhadap proses kognitif siswa, sehingga berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran dan hasil belajar di SMP Negeri 1 Pecalungan.
