PENDEKATAN DAN METODA PENELITIAN FENOMENA GEMPA BUMI

Abstract


This article discusses the development of various approaches and methods to earthquakes. The study was conducted through a qualitative approach based on secondary  data  from  articles,  reports,  books  obtained  from  internet  media.  The validity of the data was checked through triangulation of sources and methods. The results of the study found that knowledge about earthquakes was multidisciplinary involving  the  fields  of  philosophy,  engineering,  sociology,  economics,  health, education  and  disaster management.  Prior to  the  16th  century,  knowledge  about earthquakes came from experience, myth, belief, philosophy and religion. The science of  earthquakes in  a modern  scientific approach  began  to develop  since the 16th century, the beginning of the 19th century industrialization era until now. The view of modern science has made various advances in revealing the mechanical side of earthquakes, as well as other complementary aspects of socio-cultural, economic, health, educational and management. Research is conducted through cross- disciplinary quantitative and qualitative approaches, such as through phenomenology studies, ethnography, history, case studies, experiments, surveys. This article recommends the need for a holistic approach through an interdisciplinary systems approach in developing knowledge about earthquakes.
