Peer Review Process
Civis : Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu Sosial dan Pendidikan attempts to publish articles that meet all of the requirements. To achieve this, we conduct a double-blind peer review, in which the information of both reviewers and authors are masked during the evaluation process.
Specifically, our editorial process consists of the following steps:
- preliminary screening The Editor-in-Chief examines all contributions for adherence to Allure's scope and fundamental submission standards, as well as for plagiarism. Manuscripts that do not adhere to our ethical criteria are rejected automatically, when they do not suit to the focus of the journal.
- Reviewer assignment. The editor then selects at least one of the following relevant reviewers and initiates the peer review process for manuscripts that pass the initial screening.
- Peer review. Throughout this phase, reviewers will evaluate the manuscript's substance and make recommendations to the editor.
- Initial decision. As both reviewers have made their comments, the paper is either rejected, requested for minor or substantial adjustments, or approved as is. If the manuscript is approved, it is returned back to the author for some adjustments. The Editor makes the final decision about the manuscript's approval.
- Revision. A revised manuscript is returned to the submitting author, who has up to four weeks to complete the corrections. Once the modification has been submitted, the editor evaluates it once more to decide whether the changes are sufficient and suitable, and whether the author(s) adequately addressed the reviewers' feedback and suggestions. This process is repeated if the adjustments are deemed insufficient.
- Final decision. The updated manuscript is either approved or rejected based on how the editor deems it worthy of publishing after revisions.
- Language editing. When the manuscript has been approved, it is returned back to the author (s) for final language and content editing; these are adjustments that enhance the article's readability without altering its substance.
- Publication. The article will be featured in the most recent edition of Allure. The editorial staff determines the arrangement of articles in each issue.
