Abstract

Deep learning is an innovative learning approach that can be used by teachers in modern education. This study aims to examine the understanding, implementation, and challenges faced by Indonesian, English, and Javanese language teachers at junior high schools under YPLP DM PGRI JT, Semarang, in applying a deep learning approach. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that most teachers understand the basic concepts of deep learning, particularly in aspects of critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-based learning. However, its classroom implementation remains limited and partial. The main inhibiting factors include limited training opportunities, constrained instructional time, and teachers’ administrative workload. This study concludes that teachers have potential chances to develop deep learning more optimally if supported by continuous professional development and adequate learning facilities. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for developing teacher competency improvement programs within YPLP DM PGRI JT.
