Proses berpikir siswa kelas XI dalam menyelesaikan soal berorientasi HOTS pada materi deret aritmatika

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal berorientasi HOTS pada materi Deret Aritmatika dilihat dari empat tahapan penyelesaian masalah George Polya. Penelitian yang dilakukan berupa penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi kasus. Subjek penelitian studi kasus adalah siswa kelas XI IPS 1 MAN Kota Batu tahun ajaran 2019/2020 dengan keunikan bisa mengerjakan soal berorientasi HOTS dengan benar disertai langkah-langkah pengerjaan yang lengkap dibandingkan dengan siswa dalam kelas yang sama. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode pemberian tes dan wawancara untuk mengetahui proses berpikir. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan jawaban dan wawancara dengan siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa melakukan tahapan understanding the problem (walaupun secara tertulis tidak lengkap), devising the plan, dan carrying out the plan, tetapi tidak melakukan tahapan looking back.Kata kunci: proses berpikir; HOTS; deret aritmatika
